What we collect
- Your account: your name and email, and the subject you are studying.
- If you pay: the phone number you give at checkout, which plan you chose and whether the payment went through. Your card or UPI details go straight to Cashfree, our payment processor; we never see them.
- If you joined our old waitlist: the name, email, college, year and, if you gave it, WhatsApp number you gave us then.
- What you upload: slides, PDFs, photos, recordings and anything else you add, and what PadhAI makes from them: notes, flashcards, quizzes and lessons.
- How you study: your answers to quizzes and flashcards, and your progress through lessons, so the app can show you what to revise.
- When something breaks: an error report, so we can fix it.
Your uploads are yours
Your material is visible only to you, unless you share something yourself with a share link. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to advertise to you or to anyone else.
Who helps us run it
These services process data for us, only to provide the app:
- Supabase stores your account, your uploads and your study data.
- Anthropic (Claude) reads your material to make notes, questions and lessons, and answers your questions. Anthropic does not train its models on it.
- Sarvam AI turns the tutor’s words into speech, and your spoken questions into text.
- Vercel hosts the site and counts page visits without cookies.
- Inngest runs the background jobs that process your uploads.
- Resend delivers our emails: your sign-up code, and the daily email if you get it.
- Cashfree processes payments when you buy a plan. It handles your card or UPI details under its own privacy policy, and tells us whether the payment went through.
Ads and Meta
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. On our home page and our sign-in page, we use Meta’s pixel, which tells Meta that someone visited, and that an account was created, so our ads reach people likely to find PadhAI useful. On the home page it also tells Meta how far down the page you scrolled, whether you played the demo video, and which sign-up button you pressed, so we can see where the page loses people. When a payment goes through, the page that confirms it tells Meta that a plan was bought and its price, and nothing else. Meta may use cookies to do this. It is never loaded anywhere else in the app, and never anywhere your material is.
Our server also tells Meta those same two things directly — that an account was made, and that a plan was bought and its price — so they are counted when an ad blocker stops the pixel, and one more: that your first upload is ready to study (that it happened, never what it was). With them it sends your email, your phone number if you gave one at payment, and our id for your account, each scrambled (hashed) first so Meta can match them to a Facebook or Instagram account but cannot read them, plus your browser’s IP address and type at sign-up and at that first upload. Nothing about what you study is ever sent.
If you arrive from an ad, your browser also remembers which ad, for 30 days, and if you make an account, that ad’s name is saved with it, so we can tell which of our ads brought people to PadhAI.
Emails
When you sign up we email you a code, to check the address is yours. After that, we send one email in the evening with what’s next for you: an upload to make, a quiz to finish, an egg about to hatch. Not on a day you studied, and they stop by themselves after two weeks without a visit. Every one has a link that turns them off, and so does the Me page.
Deleting your data
You can delete any upload from the app at any time. To delete your account and everything in it (or your old waitlist entry), write to us and we will do it within 7 days.
